Hi - I'm Leia and I am a first-year university student currently studying Psychology. I have always enjoyed English, from writing stories when I was young to studying English Literature for A level. Quoting poems, books and Shakespeare is a daily occurrence for me!

Tutoring Experience

Whilst studying for my A levels, I tutored children aged four to sixteen in both Maths and English for two years. I found this very rewarding, as well as able to refresh my own knowledge on topics that may be learnt in alternate ways than when I had learnt them.
I also have volunteered in a primary school assisting in classrooms for both the teacher and students. This further gave me knowledge of the current education system, as well as ways children find learning most enjoyable.
I studied and took my GCSEs 3 years ago, and my A level English Literature 1 year ago. This has helped to freshen my knowledge.

Tutoring Approach

Based on my experience as a tutor, I gained a contemporary approach to learning, especially with English. In order to be understood and remembered, content has to be engaging and explained in a modern context. Yet I also value the traditional approach of context, meaning and methods of a poem, to really understand the what and why of literature. I would like to say I have a passion for English and reading which encourages me to gift and inspire that in others as well. English can be fun, it's just the individual approach and enthusiasm that is needed.
