Online Physics Tuition

Quite simply, I love what I do.  I am a dedicated and engaging teacher who is committed to inspiring students to achieve their very best through meeting their individual needs within a trusting, supportive and nurturing environment.

I have a BSc (Hons) in Physics from the University of Wales, Cardiff and am a fully qualified teacher of physics specialising in Key Stage 3 through to A Level.

I am a highly experienced teacher of physics, having over 15 years experience teaching, and leading physics and science departments in 3, very different schools.  I am also an examiner for Edexcel.  I have significant teaching, management, and leadership experience in schools with a variety of demographics, allowing me to draw on a range of strategies and systems in order to drive forward and develop students’ levels of understanding to allow them to achieve their very best. I am currently Head of Science and Head of Physics in a highly successful rural grammar school, a role I have held since joining there 9 1/2 years ago.

Tutoring Experience

During my teaching career I have taught, and continue to teach all year groups. I have prepared students for GCSE and A-level exams for all the major examination boards. In addition to my teaching I have also provided 1 to 1 and small group tuition for students working towards their GCSEs and A levels.

Tutoring Approach

My style of teaching and tutoring is very interactive and requires students to take a proactive role in their learning to allow them to develop their understanding so that they can apply their knowledge in different contexts as required.
To genuinely succeed in Physics students are required to have a solid foundation of the key concepts which in time, and with practice, they are then able to apply to wider contexts.  My ability to break these ideas down into concise and accessible chunks and explain them to students in an engaging and relevant way means that my students are able to understand these key concepts quickly, which allows more time to practice their application and develop their understanding further.
