Maths and English Tutoring in Gloucester

I am a recent law graduate from the University of Cambridge seeking to apply my academic skills to helping other students attain well as I have throughout my education. I have a lot of experience writing and proof-reading essays and I am always eager to utilise my creativity to make useful resources to share the knowledge and skills I have gained therefrom. I have always enjoyed working with children and feel I have an aptitude for it. Tutoring primary school children and secondary school children, including those undergoing their GCSE courses, on subjects such as English is ideal for me due to my skillset. Having attained a 2.1 BA in Law following five 9s, three 8s, a 7, a 6, and a B at GCSE, and three As and an A* at A-level (with another A* in my EPQ), I understand academic success and have a lot of useful knowledge on how to achieve that I would really love to share. I will also be able to tutor university law students who find themselves struggling to understand some of their material. I am also able to work with children with neurodivergences and Special Educational Needs as I have needed to adapt for such pupils when working with classes of children previously. I will relish any opportunities that come my way; I'm a very hard worker and really care about helping others!

Tutoring Experience

I have lots of experience working with primary school and secondary school children from teaching them lessons and workshops to marking and judging the standard of their work. Below is listed, from most-least recent, my most relevant experience.
Oxford School Unions Debate judge and chair (secondary school-aged children), January 2024
Creative Writing Workshop Teacher (for primary, junior-aged children), Castle Hill Primary School June-July, 2021
Primary School Work Experience (including teaching P.E lessons, leading a forest school excursion, and providing an English Language lesson), Bad Kreuznach, Germany, 2019
Language Leaders Level 1 Qualification (completion involving teaching both secondary-school aged and primary school-aged children German vocabulary using creative methods including games such as pictionary), 2018-2019
Primary School Teaching Assistant (volunteer), June-July, 2018
Sports Leaders Level 1 Qualification (completion involving teaching children new games), 2017-2018

Tutoring Approach

I make interactive resources to help students better understand the content they are learning and working with as well as encourage them to think for themselves without them having to feel like they don't know where to start or have to do it all alone.
I encourage students to bring their own work and ideas and provide in-depth feedback to help them understand their strengths and weaknesses.
I provide guides for solving problems and creating learning resources. In the case of primary school students, we would make these resources together and use them together. With secondary school students, this approach would sometimes remain the same but may include encouraging students to make further resources out of the sessions and bring them for feedback/improvement depending on the student's abilities, preferences and workload.
I focus on kindness and positivity above all else. Instead of saying to a student 'you are doing this wrong', I will explain to them 'this could be done better, and this is how' as I believe this will help not only improve their learning, but their academic confidence also.
