I am a 23 year old graduate looking for the opportunity to pass on my passion for learning through your tutoring platform. My specialist subjects are English, English as a foreign language and Spanish, all of which I have boundless experience in. I am currently working in hospitality as a front of house member and love to meet new people and use my communication skills to benefit my customer service. I love to read, write, bake and go to the gym. I am a determined and proactive individual who is highly organised and thrives in a deadline driven environment.
I undertook a TEFL qualification in 2019. Through the 120 hours of this course I learned how to plan lessons according to the needs and learning styles of each group of students as well as an in depth analysis of various topics in the English language to enable me to relay this knowledge to those who are learning it as their second language.
I volunteered as a Student Ambassador and Representative for my course at the University of York. Through this I was able to motivate and communicate with prospective students wanting to study Spanish further. Transferrable skills from this are a personable approach to those that are in need of advice, organisational skills and being a reliable member of my institution.
Throughout my academic experience I have always loved to learn more about any subject I put my mind to. I studied Spanish and English Literature up to an A-level standard in which I was able to gain top marks in each. At University I studied Spanish and Linguistics, in which I achieved a high 2.1.
I am a proactive and determined individual who is excited by learning and would love to pass on this passion to others through online tutoring.
I like to take a fun and dynamic approach to my lessons. I encourage active learning through interactive activities, discussions, and hands-on exercises. I want to encourage them to ask questions, solve problems, and participate actively in the learning process.
Furthermore, I provide positive reinforcement and encouragement to boost students' confidence and motivation. I try to celebrate their progress and achievements, no matter how small, and encourage them to persevere through challenges.
I think it's important to tailor my approach to meet individual needs and learning styles of each student. I try to get to know any students' strengths, weaknesses, interests, and goals, and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
As a visual learner myself I like to communicate concepts clearly and effectively, using simple language and concrete examples and diagrams to explain difficult concepts. Often breaking down complex topics into smaller, more manageable parts can make challenging subjects feel a lot less overwhelming and more enjoyable to learn.
