I am an experienced, effective teacher of English at all levels. I have privately tutored hundreds of students, most facing important exams but others simply needing some extra help.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching for the past twenty years and tutoring for almost twenty-two years.

My qualifications include an Honours BA in English, Sociology and Politics, a Higher Diploma in Education and a University Certificate in Local History.

Tutoring Approach

Long term tuition: When I first meet a student, I do a thorough assessment of their skills by interviewing them, giving them assignments and examining their previous work. I then design a programme of study based around their individual needs which focuses on the areas most relevant to them.

Short term tuition: I can deliver a highly-focused series of lessons, specifically aimed at helping students through their difficulties with an individual text, poet, genre or assignment.

I am also an experienced examiner who can advise students how to work towards increasing their grade. I currently mark for both AQA and Edexcel.
