I graduated from the University of Kent in 2014, with a bachelors degree in Biochemistry. Since graduation, I have continuously worked in education; as a teaching assistant, a science technician and as a personal tutor. I have a love for science, learning and a keen interest in education. These are things that make me so good at tutoring.
In both of my positions within schools I worked alongside teachers, to help deliver learning and support pupils. Since January 2017 I have been working as a tutor in Maths and Science at KS3, national 4, GCSE and national 5 level. I have gained knowledge and experience of both the English and Scottish schooling systems, due to living and working in both countries. In my position as a teaching assistant and a tutor I have developed my teaching skills to best suit the needs of the learner and the situation. I am able to work with pupils with a range of needs whether the learner has specific learning needs or requires a level of high attainment or even both. I have one to one tutoring experience from the ages of 8-18 years, with my specialty being in Science and Maths.
I think it is important to listen to the student and find the areas in which they most need help. There is normally more than one method that can be used to both learn and understand, finding the way that works best for an individual is something that I aim to achieve. It is also my aim to tailor tutoring sessions to the needs of the individual.
