Tutoring Experience

I started tutoring back in my high school days at II. gymnasium Maribor in Slovenia. My main responsibilities were integrating pupils into the environment and guiding them towards achieving their academic aspirations.

During my MSci Neuroscience studies at University College London, I was part of the UCL Neuroscience Society committee. We often stepped in to offer tutorials for the younger students - covering topics from neurophysiology to application guidance, essay assistance, and interview skills. Now, as I work towards completing my PhD at the University of Sheffield I've gained a lot of teaching experience. I've worked with undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as even researchers. I've been involved in delivering diverse courses – from data analysis, and R programming to those designed for Biomedical Sciences. I also assisted with lab practicals (basic science skills). For performing these roles I was awarded Associate Fellow of Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) accreditations. Excited to continue my teaching journey with First Tutors!

In addition, I also have experience with teaching and support for students with disabilities (university level). This role involved tailoring support to meet the specific needs of each student, ensuring their full class participation. This experience was invaluable for my personal growth as it enriched my skills and understanding of accommodating diverse learning needs.

My studies in neuroscience taught me that the deepest level of knowledge is achieved not merely by retaining facts but through a thorough conceptual understanding of the subject matter.

• Practice with purpose: Utilising examples of past exam papers we'll practice with questions tailored to your upcoming exams.
• Progress feedback: Regular feedback will keep you informed about your progress, with guidance on areas for improvement.
• Reinforcing homework: Homework assignments, while not extensive, will be designed to reinforce your understanding and solidify learning.
• Inclusive & adaptive: Having experience with students with disabilities, I value and incorporate inclusive educational practices. • My teaching is rooted in the understanding that there is no one-size-fits-all solution in education. I adapt my methods to meet diverse learning needs, ensuring a personalised and relaxed learning environment.
