Hi, I’m a qualified primary school teacher with 15 years of classroom experience. Over the years, I’ve taught across Years 1 to 5 and also worked as an induction tutor, supporting Early Career Teachers in developing their skills and confidence in the classroom. My most recent role was in an Ofsted-rated Outstanding school, which achieved this recognition for the second time running. I’m now focusing on one-to-one tutoring, where I can give children personalised support and help them thrive.
I particularly enjoy teaching maths and aim to make it practical, engaging, and enjoyable. I regularly use manipulatives, games, and real-life problem solving to help children develop a deep understanding and a real love of the subject. I also tutor reading and writing, supporting children in building key skills, boosting their confidence, and making progress across the primary curriculum.
My sessions are tailored to each child’s individual needs, learning style, and pace. Whether tutoring online or in person, I create a warm, encouraging environment where children feel supported, motivated, and proud of their progress. I have strong knowledge of the primary curriculum and experience preparing pupils for SATs and other key stage assessments, helping them feel confident and ready to succeed.
I’ve been teaching since 2007, working mainly across KS1 and KS2. I spent four years teaching Year 2, giving me a strong understanding of the KS1 SATs and how to support children through them with confidence. In my most recent school-based role, I taught Year 3, where I helped children transition smoothly from infant to junior school and delivered a wide range of targeted interventions for those needing additional support. I also have three years’ experience teaching Year 5, which means I’m well-placed to prepare children for the academic and emotional step up to Year 6.
Now working as a tutor, I bring this experience into personalised sessions that are tailored to each child’s stage and needs.
In our first session, I take time to get to know your child and understand how they feel about the subject we’ll be focusing on. I’ll carry out a short, informal assessment to identify any gaps in understanding and help shape a personalised plan going forward. From there, each session is tailored to your child’s specific needs and learning style, using a blend of verbal, written, and practical activities to keep lessons engaging and effective.
I’m also happy to support your child with any assigned home learning tasks, whether from school or another programme. Please feel free to let me know your child’s needs when you get in touch, and I’ll do my best to accommodate and provide support that works for you both.
