Tutoring Experience

Kieran is an engaging, enthusiastic, and friendly tutor with a degree in English Literature and German from Durham University.

He has several years’ experience preparing students for 11+ school entry, and his students have successfully won places at Dulwich College, Sevenoaks, Eltham College, Colfe’s, and St Dunstans. He tutors both English and Maths for these entrance exams, from 7+ upwards, and also has experience coaching students for grammar school entrance.

He also tutors A-Level English and helps with personal statements for University, and students of his have been accepted to Leeds, Southampton, and King’s College London.

He is well-prepared and adept at tailoring lessons to the particular needs of his students, instilling his tutees with the confidence they need to learn and to understand, and he hopes to inspire genuine enjoyment and independence in their studies.

Kieran also has experience of teaching English as a foreign language during time spent in a German secondary school teaching pupils of all ages and abilities, with particular focus on preparing students for Cambridge Advanced English exams.

In addition to tutoring, he ran weekly drama workshops at Wellington College in Berkshire, helping students to devise and develop original comedy material for performance, and so he is used to encouraging creative writing, critical analysis and editing, and performance skills. He has also run similar workshops at Bradfield College, and Pipers’ Corner schools.

Kieran is a comedian and writer with more than ten years’ experience of performing across the country. He has written and acted for television and radio.

At school he achieved 3 A’s at A-Level, and was a keen rower and sixth form captain of boats, as well as a prefect.

Tutoring Approach

I like to be well prepared but most importantly flexible and receptive to the needs of a particular student. I am happy to adapt to whatever area(s) you feel needs most attention and in conjunction with you, I will come up with some aims and a plan of how best to achieve them.
