Online Maths and Chemistry Lessons

Hello! I am currently a graduate student at Oxford university, in the 2nd year of a Chemistry PhD. I graduated with a first class honours for my Master's in Chemistry, also from Oxford university, and prior to this I had studies Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Physics for my A-levels. As you can see from the subjects I love, I am quite the science enthusiast, so I am hoping I can pass on this enthusiasm to other students while simultaneously helping with their studies.

Throughout my years in school and university, I have found that I thoroughly enjoy helping other students understand concepts they found challenging, and it was always intriguing how I needed to change my method of explanation for different types of students. From my experience teaching others (see below), I have learnt that patience is key as everyone learns at a different pace and I am more than willing to adapt my tutoring style to all types of students.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about me or tutoring in general!

Tutoring Experience

I have had plenty of experience tutoring students at various times over the past few years. I started off teaching other students from as young as when I was in secondary school, whereby I took part in a “Maths Leaders” programme to organise Maths classes for Year 7 students and helped them through some Maths problems. This was the first time I really had to cater for students of varying study habits. On top of this, in sixth form I was a Chemistry prefect. One of my responsibilities in this role was to provide support for struggling GCSE students; I was assigned to two students, which I tutored weekly over the course of a few months in the run-up to their exams.

After this, I took on more formal teaching roles whereby I provided private tutition (still ongoing) to 5 GCSE/A-level students over the years during my university days.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is all about patience and flexibility. With my past teaching experience, I find that I am able to easily adapt to the needs of the student, and so my lesson structures will be dictated by the students' desires. For most of my students, I will plan lessons for topics that they feel like they need assistance with at the time, and I am more than happy to provide homework (if they wish) and to mark any work that they choose to do in their own time to provide feedback. If instead the student wishes for me to provide my own structured lessons, without changing my lessons to what they are learning in their institution at the current moment, I can also do that to slowly cover the entire curriculum for them.

All in all, this is just to say that you can tell me what you want to get out of our lessons, and I will happily adapt to provide the best service for you! I would also be happy to provide a free first lesson so that you can get the chance to see if you want to continue with more lessons afterwards.
