I am currently studying a BA in English at UCL. I achieved an A* in both English Literature and Psychology A Level whilst studying at London Academy of Excellence and a grade 8 for both English Language and Literature at GCSE level. Alongside providing lessons for both Psychology and English I am happy to give advice and help with university applications having completed English Literature entrance exams and interviews with both UCL and Oxford (ELAT).

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring throughout my A Levels, acting as an academic mentor for the Chrysalis East charity. I partook in mentoring their summer school and helped to assist London Academy of Excellence teachers in delivering English sessions for top attaining GCSE students from four schools in the Tottenham borough. I am currently teaching at a tutoring centre as well as offering private tuition which means I have a deep understanding of the required skills needed to reach top grades across all exam boards.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching focuses on engaging students with the work at hand, helping them to strive and achieve their potential. I will help provide a student- centred environment with specially tailored lessons and resources as well as regular marking and feedback on practice timed essays.I will help encourage students to find the best revision techniques for themselves to help produce a set of revision notes that can be memorised before the exams.

ENGLISH :

I focus particularly on the structure of essays, allowing students to be both sophisticated and analytical in their approach to writing whilst maintaining a clear, coherent line of argument and dynamic comparison between set texts. My first priority is to ensure that each student has a complete understanding of the Assessment Objectives underpinning each exam paper, as well as helping them to find a way that best suits them to meet all these objectives whilst also proposing an illuminating response to set questions.

PSYCHOLOGY:

I believe that success in Psychology A Level is dependent on not only excellent content knowledge but also regular exam practice. I will collate resources such as exam practice, reading, exemplar essays per topic etc. that is tailored for each specific student to help target their areas of weaknesses. I will focus mainly on how to structure answers for both essay and short answer questions to help students achieve the highest possible marks.
