I am an enthusiastic and approachable primary school teacher with a wealth of experience teaching across the primary age range. Having worked in industry for several years, I completed my PGCE in 2000 and have thoroughly enjoyed my time working as a class teacher. Over lockdown I taught my class online and relished having more time to work with each child individually, helping support their needs. As a result I decided to move into tutoring.
I have gained valuable experience teaching children within mixed aged classes for over 20 years. This has included preparing children for the year one phonics tests, end of year two SATS and year six maths SATS. I have worked with children on interventions both in small groups and one to one situations. I have attended many training courses and taught children with a wide range of needs and abilities including ADHD, autism and dyslexia. I have held the position of both science coordinator and maths coordinator within school and have an up to date knowledge of the primary curriculum. I have worked as a tutor offering both online and face to face lessons for the past five years including working as a NTP tutor for the government catch up programme.
I have had experience of teaching all primary age groups from reception to year 6, of planning lessons and carrying out assessments. I have a positive outlook and aim to develop a good rapport with pupils and create a cooperative and calm atmosphere, full of praise and where all can succeed. It is my aim to deliver exciting and engaging lessons using a variety of teaching methods best suited to each individual child. I am patient and flexible and willing to persevere in order to ensure that all students have fun whilst succeeding in reaching their goals.
