Kerry has been a tutor in Math's for our daughter in year 7 for nearly a year. In that time, Kerry has built up her confidence and enjoyment of Math's more than we thought possible! So much so, that she wants to carry on with her tutor sessions over the summer holidays! After each session our daughter comes bounding in the room, so excited about what she has learnt and can't wait to share it with us (I just nod as it goes way over my head!). Teachers have noticed a marked improvement too. Kerry is always helpful, understanding and flexible when there are clashes with other events. Our son has just finished his GCSE's and also had Kerry for Math's and German. We are nervously awaiting results day but know that his marks are expected to be greatly enhanced, mainly due to the hard work and confidence building she did with him. It has been hard for our kids to catch and keep motivated in these difficult times but we know getting Kerry on board to help was the best decision we could have made.
Thank you so much for your lovely review!
From Claudia
We've only just started but Kerry already seems very competent and patient with the kids, which is great. I am confident my kids will make excellent progress with her.
Thanks Claudia. I'm enjoying teaching them both.
From Geraldine
A dreadful and stressful experience. I intend to take this further if I don’t receive a full refund.
A couple of days after leaving this review, Geraldine sent the following email to First Tutors:
Please accept and convey my apologies to Kerry, the problems experienced were due to my disability and nothing to do with her her teaching ability or professionalism. I am so sorry for the unjustifiable complaint - this was as a result of not being able to fully understand what was being asked of me and confusion.
I was diagnosed with further deterioration and changes in my brain on Tuesday, hence the reason I couldn’t understand or follow her teaching instructions.
My Sincere apologies,
Geraldine McCormack

A very easy person to work with, and very reliable

Kerry has been an absolute godsend in our lives. She started tutoring my grandson 5 years ago for maths and English for his SATS it absolutely boosted him and he got top grades and was subSequently then in the band at his secondary school. We have employed Kerry again to help with his mocks and GCSE’s and he has achieved A-A*+ (7-9) in all subjects she has helped him with. Albeit difficult times at the moment we still have Kerry to keep him in gear and his brain going. Kerry is a very important member of our family. The relationship she and my grandson have is incredible. I can’t recommend highly enough. In addition she has also allowed him to become a tutor him self which looks brilliant on his CV and will give him many opportunities in the future!
Thanks for your lovely review. Finlay has always been a pleasure to teach and it’s been great coming back after 5 years and seeing the amazing progress he’s made.
From Rebecca
Kerry teaches my 9 and 7 year old and they love her. It is such a pleasure to hear their laughter and the fun they are having, something I believe is important to learn. She makes the lessons interactive and age appropriate and is always well prepared. She is approachable, respectful and patient and their German is progressing very well. I highly recommend her.
Thanks for your lovely review. The children are a pleasure to teach and I'm enjoying the lessons as much as they are!
From Reeta
Hi, this tutor now has sent Me an email saying she can’t offer the dates/times, this appears to be based her feeling I am not committed as I didn’t start 1st lesson on 24/7 as she wanted ( if I had done this there was going to be a 2- week gap before the 2nd due to the tutors holiday and mine, so I asked for the 1st lesson to be when she returns from her holiday. even though she has my telephone she could ring number me so we can resolve she choose to send me an email saying said she isn’t available as she feels I am not committed. Disappointing especially as I paid an intro fee and thought we had an arrangement for lessons to start on 2- days per week . She can could ring me any point to resolve
I’ve asked First Tutors to remove this review as it’s not genuine. In the meantime though, I feel I should explain what happened so that other students don’t get the wrong idea.
Reeta booked a lesson for the week after she bought my details and then immediately wanted to rearrange it. Before the rearranged lesson took place, however, she contacted me again to ask for a free lesson and then cancelled the lesson when I said I couldn’t do it for free.
Reeta then asked to rebook for the end of August/start of September once she was back from her holiday. I told her that would be fine as long as I still had availability.
Reeta then contacted me again wanting to change the lesson time to a time I don’t offer and when I said that wasn’t possible but offered alternative times, she left this review.
Reeta told me in one of her emails that she was going to ask First Tutors for a refund as she could no longer do the lesson time we’d agreed. I suspect they said no (they only offer refunds when a tutor lets a student down) and that she’s therefore left this review in retaliation.
I’ve been with First Tutors for over 10 years and have never had this kind of problem before. It’s very upsetting to think my reputation has been ruined by someone just because their circumstances have changed and they don’t agree with First Tutors’ refund policy. I hope any potential students reading this will overlook it and use my other reviews as a guide to my real behaviour as a tutor.

Kerry is a true professional and her help and encouragement have made all the difference in understanding the subject matter and the tasks in hand. I highly recommend Kerry as a tutor as you will see a real difference as your confidence grows inline with your grades.
From Phil
Kerry helped my son Chris with his GCSE maths. He achieved an A grade and his confidence in the subject has increased. Kerry was very reliable and was able to communicate her knowledge of the subject in a way to help with his studies.
From Rebecca
This student accidentally tried to email me via the review form rather than the contact form and chose a random review rating as she couldn't submit her email without it. She hasn't had any lessons yet so it's not a genuine review. I've asked First Tutors to remove it but unfortunately their policy is to not remove any reviews for any reason.

Kerry is very patient with my son and I think she will do a fantastic job tutoring him

Kerry is tutoring my daughter Lucy in GCSE Maths. Before meeting Kerry Lucy lacked confidence in the subject and found some elements difficult. After the first session we noticed a difference and Lucy's confidence continues to develop. Kerry has taken time to understand Lucy's weak spots and has worked on them to develop her understanding with significant improvements
Previous predicted level was a low C, predicted level now a high B after a few sessions, with further sessions to go who knows what can be achieved
Many thanks Kerry, Andy Jackson

Kerry is a great tutor . She is teaching me son who speak no english at all and he started a very good start.
Thanks Ahmed. A lot of Mohammed's progress though is down to all the practice you do with him between lessons.

I asked Kerry to help my son (aged 10) achieve his potential in Literacy and Maths. Kerry has been working with my son for 7 months on a weekly basis. I have been impressed with Kerry's ability to engage my son in work. He tends only to work if he is interested in a subject, and Kerry seems gifted in holding his interest. Kerry has also been helpful to me when I have asked her for tips on how to help my son in areas where he struggles. She is exceptionally bright and a brilliant teacher. She makes learning fun and is able to respond to my son's individual learning needs and temperament. She also listens to him and is very patient.

I found Kerry to be an excellent tutor who patiently helped my daughter with extra GCSE tuition for English.
Kerry was very flexible and was able to work around my daughters school schedules sometime being able to change appointments at short notice which was really appreciated.
Thanks for your lovely feedback. Kristie was a pleasure to teach and I hope her exam went well.

Kerry has been tutoring my 15 year old son at GCSE level. I have been really pleased with the progress he's made. He's not always the most enthusiastic pupil but Kerry is very patient and puts in a great deal of effort to engage him in the subject. Kerry has really helped him to get to grips with his weaker areas and I would wholeheartedly recommend her as a tutor.
From Miriam
Kerry is a fine young lady. My daughter Miriam loves to learn with her and Miriam progressed a lot in her language and grammar skills. We highly recommend Kerry.
