A friendly, good humoured, focused and qualified English Language and Literature Teacher, based on the Herts/Essex border. I am a literacy specialist and I am the Literacy Lead for my school. My first degree is in History and I am a specialist at teaching essay writing.
A lover of football, musical theatre and quizzes, and mother of my 12 year old son.
I teach 11-18 year olds at a secondary school. I previously worked in sales and marketing and re-trained as a teacher 8 years ago; I used to train and coach adults in all areas of business. I also taught drama and musical theatre to 3-16 year olds at a musical theatre school, so I have a wide range of experience with adults and young people, over a number of years.
Students make excellent progress and are responsive to my flexible teaching methods, relaxed approach and direct, 'easy to understand' teaching. Students enjoy learning with me, as I am able to adapt teaching methods based on the individuals, so that they develop their knowledge and skills and grow in confidence.
I create a comfortable and open learning environment and build rapport easily with all types of people.
I do a full skills/knowledge audit in the initial session, so that tutoring can be tailored to the specific needs of the student.
Whilst sessions are focused, I also want students to enjoy them so they embrace the sessions, try their best, have faith in their own ability, and have a determination to succeed.
