I have interests in the arts, nature and problem solving and have a BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering in which I was chosen to represent the course having one of the top dissertation projects in my year.
I am also an artist specialising in a number of mediums such as expressive coastal painting with acrylics and portraits and pets in pastels and graphite. I have been given a commendation from the Society of All Artists in the Artist of the Year competition and have since gone on to show my work in Devon and Cornwall whilst taking part in art fairs.
Please ask if you would like to see photos of my artwork.
I have run workshops to assist students with their work offering guidance and tips and giving demonstrations for techniques. I have also volunteered for children and young adults with complex needs with the Wave Project in Devon.
Creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere, I demonstrate techniques rather than just describing them whilst always asking if my students understand these approaches. The student then carries out their work and I assist them with their development, giving tips along the way. I spend a good amount of time preparing for classes, making sure that the students have enough choice of work to practice and using their interests to make the work more interesting.
I very much enjoy tutoring and I think this comes through in the classes in which feedback has been very positive.
