(ALL TUITION NOW ONLINE) I am a DBS checked English teacher with 28 years' teaching experience. For the last 3 years, I have worked with Year 11 students in a local Outstanding school, focussing solely on improving attainment levels in the new 9-1 English Language examination. Typical progress for students has been 2 levels in one term.

Tutoring Experience

My thorough and robust knowledge of the new AQA examination will enable me to guide you through Papers One and Two; explaining clearly the demands of each question and steering you away from common errors. Since the introduction of the new 9-1 English Language examination, I have tutored more than 100 students.

Tutoring Approach

All tuition sessions are tailored to meet the individual needs of the student. A typical session would consist of:
• An informal reading and discussion of the exam text (Source A Paper One / Sources A and B Paper Two)
• A step by step explanation of the requirements of each question - one question per session. Using the Mark Scheme, Examiner Reports and my own experience of the difficulties students encounter, I will help you to avoid common errors and formulate strategies to convert your understanding into a relevant and appropriately detailed response.
• Together we will produce a written plan of your response.
• Homework will be set for you to write up your response to be submitted and marked the following week.
• Skills developed for language and structure analysis in the English Language exam will be applied to your responses in the English Literature exam. Practice tasks will be set and marked.
• I will provide continuous, objective and supportive feedback throughout each tuition session and via email between sessions if necessary.
