I have a passion for STEM fields and strongly believe that a solid grasp of them can enhance our understanding and appreciation for the world around us. I hope to pass on this passion to all my students, and to give them the confidence to apply their knowledge wherever they can, helping them both in their future careers and their day-to-day lives. I graduated from the University of Wolverhampton with a BEng (hons) in civil engineering and since then I have worked as a designer on major infrastructure projects, both in the UK and internationally, applying the scientific and mathematical concepts I learned in academia to real-world problems. For me, maths and physics are not purely theoretical subjects, and I truly think that seeing them in this way can enhance understanding.

Tutoring Experience

I work as a private tutor, both independently and through large tutoring networks, such as The Profs. I have taught civil engineering at university level, and math and physics to GCSE and A-Level students covering a range of exam boards and specifications. I have also worked with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) to tutor final-year engineering students in the practical application of their academic knowledge, as part of the ICE Summer Project.

Tutoring Approach

With a strong academic background in STEM subjects and years of real-world experience in my field, I offer tailored tutoring with a ‘student-focused’ approach, that starts with understanding and enhancing the core concepts. My lessons break down the curriculum by topic and help to identify the parts where a student is struggling, allowing more time to be focused on the parts they find most difficult, so we can work through those problems together. I aim for a more relaxed, collaborative approach in all my sessions, with internal "deadlines" and directed study material forming the core of the structured aspects.
