Home Tuition for Maths in Coventry

I am a young maths tutor with experience tutoring both in a school and privately. I am motivated to help A-level and GCSE students achieve their full potential, with a firm belief that any sufficiently motivated student can significantly improve their maths ability with support catered to their needs. I am able to tutor at weekends and can travel to your home to tutor, or tutor remotely if required.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked as an academic tutor in a school for the 2022-2023 academic year, tutoring both GCSE and A-level students. I have also tutored privately in both A-level and GCSE maths, with students improving as much as three grades over the course of a summer of regular tutoring.

Tutoring Approach

I favour a heavily student-centred approach, allowing the student to choose which topics they believe they need the most help with and catering my teaching style to a manner which works best for them. My standard teaching style is to run through a topic with a student each session, showing example working for each style of question and then asking the student to answer a similar question. I have, however, changed this style significantly, depending on the needs of the student, ranging from going through practice papers with students to prepare for an exam to spending whole sessions answering questions a strongly self-motivated student had from their work. I think it is of utmost importance that a student feels comfortable in their tutoring sessions so that they are happy to ask questions and can properly engage with the teaching. To that end I seek to build a rapport with the student, and though I can offer homework, I prefer not to force it upon an unwilling student. I strongly recommend in-person teaching at a student's home, since I believe students can learn twice as well with their tutor physically present, but I can offer remote teaching if in-person teaching is for whatever reason impossible or undesirable.
