I'm John, a graduate in Chemistry from the University of York, with a passion for science and sharing knowledge.
I provide tuition in Chemistry up to A level, and Physics, Biology and Mathematics up to GCSE level. As a tutor I'm patient and enthusiastic. I believe that enabling students to understand core concepts is the key to succeeding in more advanced learning. My approach to learning includes encouraging students to ask questions and think independently around the subject.
Offer tuition for AQA, OCR and Edexcel examination boards.

Tutoring Experience

Tutoring since September 2023. Currents students include KS3 / GCSE (Year 9) Chemistry and GCSE (Year 10) Physics.

Previously, a career of 30 years including working as an analytical chemist followed by wide-ranging experience in chemistry-focused Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs has given me:
• Up to date knowledge of scientific matters and their use in the 'real world'
• Extensive knowledge of active drug substance (organic) chemistry, drug product formulation, development and manufacture (including physical & chemical properties of materials) and various chemical analysis principles and methods.
• Scientific writing and document preparation / presentation skills
• Proficiency at effective communication in a variety of situations
• Ability to identify, analyse and solve problems
• Experience of mentoring junior members of staff
