I am a qualified mainstream primary school teacher and subject leader of 6 years, with a PGDE from IoE at UCL, and most recently I have gained my National Professional Qualification in Leading Teaching (NPQLT).
I have been private tutoring for 4 years, and have experience in tutoring SATs, 11+ and foundation GCSE maths. As a year 6 teacher of the last 4 years, I have excellent progress data in supporting ALL children, with a range of needs to achieve their best.
Most recently, I have raised 26/28 of my pupils (teaching in a disadvantaged area) to the expected standard in maths, up from 11/28 in November. I have high expectations of all of my children and push children to step outside their comfort zone to gain the confidence they need to believe that they can succeed! I bring this energy and challenge into my private tutoring work and focus on building a rapport with the tutee that is needed to get the most out of our sessions.
I have five years of teaching experience in upper key stage 2 (2 years in Year 5 and 3 years in Year 6). I am currently teaching year 6 (2022-23) and I am-up-to date with the latest curriculum changes and expectations from the Department of Education.
I have privately tutored for the last 7 years and have thoroughly enjoyed helping children to progress further. I currently tutor 2 children a week in English and maths in London. The children I have tutored have made progress in their reading skills and have grown in confidence in their mathematical approach. In school, I have also taken SATs booster groups of children for maths and reading of different attainment levels.
I am passionate about children's mental health and well-being, therefore I believe that children learn best when they are working with an adult that shows genuine care and truly believes in a child's ability to succeed. I feel I have these qualities, which means that I tailor to a child's individual needs by assessing their understanding, planning lessons that are adapted to their needs and monitoring their progress throughout each lesson. I consider feeding back to parents an integral part of the learning process, so they are informed of their child's progress.
