Jess

I am a 23 year old supply primary school teacher in Newport. I graduated from Reading University in 2023 with a degree in Primary Education (QTS). I enjoy reading, running, and cooking. My teaching strengths include creating relationships with students, positive reinforcement and setting clear expectations.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience working in mainstream classrooms with children from nursery to year 6, as well as with ALN children. Outside of work I do babysitting for a variety of ages. I also have a NCFE Cache Level 2 certificate in understanding children and young people’s mental health.

Tutoring Approach

I enjoy using different resources in my teaching. I find using visuals helps with students’ initial understanding of topics. I use a lot of positive reinforcement and praise to encourage students and boost their self esteem. I also try to implement different games where possible as I like to include a variety of things children find fun. Getting to know the child’s likes and interests will help when I prepare their learning. I am passionate about directing learning towards each individual as it helps with holding interest and retaining information.
