Maths and English Tuition in Ingatestone

I am a former primary classroom teacher, year group leader and curriculum coordinator of 8 years. I am looking to tutor and support any children who need that extra bit of help or a challenge!

I have a wealth of experience with teaching children from Year 1-6 and those preparing for 11+ exams. I am also the founder of an educational website whereby I create learning material, such as lesson plans, worksheets, activities and curriculum guidance, for teachers to implement in their classrooms.

During the pandemic, as people in my community were aware of my experience in teaching, I was asked by many local parents if I could tutor their children online so they did not fall behind in their learning. This turned out to be incredibly successful as not only did I find a passion for tutoring but my tutees were able to make excellent progress during a difficult time!

I am also a very proud dad to a cheeky but wonderful 4 year old.

Tutoring Experience

Having taught primary school children for 8 years, I have been committed to delivering the highest standard of achievement for all pupils and supporting my colleagues to achieve excellence in the core areas of the primary curriculum.

I was a supply teacher whereby I taught across all primary year groups in 3 different schools. At one of these schools, I became an intervention teacher for a Year 6 class that entailed teaching pupils of lower ability either one-to-one or in small groups and preparing them for their SATs.

With every child I have taught, I have a proven 100% track record of them making progress and achieving their curriculum goals in all their subjects. I have taught in both Key Stage 1 and 2, from Year 1 to Year 6, and have extensive knowledge of the primary curriculum for all year groups and subjects. I also have experience of teaching children with special educational needs, particularly pupils with autism, dyslexia, dyscalculia and Down's Syndrome.

Tutoring Approach

I firmly believe that learning should be hands-on, engaging and tailored to each child. My aim is for pupils to feel comfortable in highlighting areas in which they feel less confident and encourage them to welcome mistakes as the source of making progress and achievement. I have a range of approaches to learning to suit the child's specific needs whilst being aware of their National Curriculum objectives and age-related goals. It is my firm belief that every child should feel confident in their own abilities and I therefore work with their strengths as an opportunity for them to shine.

I work hard to build a good rapport with the children I work with and will assess your child to ensure that we start at the appropriate level for them. Through our meetings I will be able to use my teaching experience to tailor sessions to them in terms of using different types of resources and approaches to making progress, including giving children independent tasks to complete.
