I have been teaching English as a foreign language (I am CELTA qualified) for 8 years. During this time, I have taught on a one-to-one and group basis. My students include adults and children and I have worked with many Japanese students (children and adults) with little if any prior knowledge of English. In addition to running adult conversation classes, I prepare students for academic and professional English language exams.
I have a degree in modern languages (Italian, Spanish), have lived (and taught) in Italy and have also done Italian translation work whilst living in the UK.
I currently teach English as a foreign language (CELTA qualified) to several students ranging in age (from pre-school to adults) and in ability, from complete beginners to very advanced. I have worked closely with Japanese students, tutoring adults and children. References available from current students.
My approach is flexible and depends very much on student requirements and personality but I tend to use a combination of text books and alternative material in order to make lessons fun and interesting. I establish goals from the outset so that results are measurable: I certainly believe in pushing students but try to combine hard work with fun!
Covid-19 update: all lessons are currently online.
