I have over 20 years experience as an engineer, working nationally and internationally, at both the front line of service delivery and managing longer term projects. I have project managed complex projects; led culturally diverse teams. I have studied nationally and internationally, including to masters level; I have made accountable decisions under pressure; responded to an emergency; solved complex problems and led long term planning.
And, I have run a marathon; jumped out of a plane; skippered a yacht; seen penguins in their natural habitat; flown in a glider and a helicopter; abseiled; rock climbed; learned to keep bees; swam in the ocean; built a house; established 2 businesses; worked for a charity; created craft and sold it; rescued a dog; travelled in first class; camped; glamped; dreamt of van life; laughed a lot, and been frightened for my life.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 2 decades of experience supporting individuals and teams to learn and develop at all levels. Furthermore as a life long committed learner I understand the wide variety of learning styles and the need to be able to break down complex problems into manageable chunks. Through out my career as an engineer officer in the Royal Air Force I have supported learning and develop of both practical and professional skills at all levels. As a Personal Performance Coach I support the development of individuals and groups with diverse needs across a broad range of disciplines.

Tutoring Approach

I understand that every learner needs different support from a tutor - once I understand the learners goal I will develop a bespoke training plan to support them to achieve that goal. Activity within a typical training plan might include: extra practice, time spent developing a particular skill or gaining a better understanding of the process by breaking down the problem into more manageable chunks. I will use practical application as often as possible to support the learning in understanding a theoretical concept.
