Teaching is my passion and I love working with unique, young individuals to help them develop and reach their full potential.

I live with my family in Hove and I enjoy running with my dog, spending time on the beach and making my own sourdough bread!

Tutoring Experience

I have 20 years of working with children within the primary age phase- 4-11 years old. My expertise is with primary age children, specifically 7-11 years olds, in both English and Maths and mastering all skills in these subjects. I have also been a senior leader for l8 years and led maths across the school.

I have been tutoring children in school, at home and online for a few years. I have helped a vast array of children by building confidence and helping them catch up to age-related expectations or prepare for SATS and entrance exams.

I can offer short or long term blocks of tuition and I am happy to be flexible and arrange a price to accommodate this, rather than an hourly rate.

Tutoring Approach

I provide motivational and inspiring lessons, where I strive to create a relationship with the learner that nurtures growth in a positive and fun environment. I try to instil a positive growth mindset when teaching and promote the awe and wonder found in learning different subjects.

I believe that children need to be critical learners and this can be achieved through stretching and providing high challenge activities. I believe this is where deep thinking results in effective, worthwhile and sustained learning. I present opportunities that are meaningful and which builds on and carries forward learning in a coherent, enriched and deep way; I teach explicitly through misconceptions and encourage reasoning through carefully scaffolded questions, problems and challenges.

1. Go slow and dig deep. Master a skill before moving onto the next.

2. Repeat, embed, secure. Repeat and revise everything to ensure that learning is achieved. Always assess and be precise in next steps of learning.

3. Enjoy learning and be curious about the world. Always ask questions and go with spontaneous situations and make the most out of every learning opportunity.
