I am a qualified, experienced teacher with a special interest in English (as well as my PGCE, I also have an English degree). I have supported children from nursery to year 8, including phonics assessments and exams. I have up to date knowledge of the English curriculum and tailor each session to you child's needs - ensuring sessions are varied and engaging, allowing your child to develop a love for learning.
Outside of teaching and tutoring, I love to go hiking and dog walking!
I started my teaching career in a primary school where I taught year 5 and 6. I was responsible for planning and teaching all subjects and supporting children through their SATs. After this, I was a supply teacher for four months where I worked in several schools and worked across all year groups from nursery to year 6. Most recently, I worked as a teacher in a middle school where I taught English to children aged 9 to 14 - this included a year 6 classes who were working towards their SATs. I have worked with children who are working below age-related expectations and supported them to improve their scores in their SATs as well as teaching a class who were targeted for greater depth. I offer private tutoring alongside this and enjoy supporting children on a 1-1 basis where they have my full attention.
I am a teacher who focuses on creating a positive learning environment where children can develop a love of learning. I am supportive and encouraging, motivating children to achieve the best they can and ensure they can all achieve success.
