Hello! I’m Jennifer. I am a qualified teacher and have 13 years’ experience working in schools. I have been an English tutor for the past eight years. I find it enormously enjoyable and rewarding to see my students grow in knowledge, skills and importantly – confidence. I would love to help your child develop their potential in any, or all aspects of the primary or secondary school English curriculum including Speaking and Listening skills, Reading, Comprehension, Handwriting, Spelling, Grammar, and Creative Writing. I also offer English conversation skills and practise for adults.
I initially worked in pre-school settings, after training as a Montessori teacher. I later began working in one-to one pupil support in primary schools and went on to complete a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) and achieved Qualified Teacher Status. I continued working in one-to-one pupil support in primary schools, as well as tutoring English in a tuition centre. For the past eight years I have provided private English tuition, for primary and secondary school pupils. I have provided online tuition for the past four years.
My teaching style combines the different education methods I have studied, to support each child’s individual abilities and needs and to encourage and inspire them to reach their full potential. I motivate my students through building a friendly rapport and having a positive approach. I strive to make learning fun as well as productive. I include the child’s own interests as themes in their work and aim to instil a love of learning.
