Online Maths Lessons

I am 19 and currently on a gap year and will be attending Newcastle University next year to study Mathematics. I am very passionate about maths and whilst I understand maths can be a challenging subject, I hope to be able to show that it can be a very rewarding subject to understand.

My qualifications include grade A* in mathematics and further mathematics from the OCR exam board, and so I have an excellent understanding of the OCR specifications as well as the Edexcel specification as I obtained a grade 9 in GCSE maths in 2021.

Tutoring Experience

Whilst I do not have any formal tutoring experience I have always been eager to help former classmates and friends over the years with maths, and since I have just completed my A levels and achieved A* in maths and further maths I have an excellent understanding on a range of mathematical concepts and how to improve your problem solving skills.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring maths is first to understand the main concepts within a topic that you would like to work on and any essential information from your exam specification which you need to know to answer exam style questions - sometimes it can be useful to understand where certain formulae come from and the proofs behind certain mathematical concepts to broaden understanding.
Then we will go through example questions together, and finally attempt exam questions where I will help you to apply what you have learned and develop your problem solving skills, which will take up the majority of my tutoring sessions. I believe that attempting as many questions as possible will lead to the greatest improvement in maths, and when discussing example questions I aim to ask the right questions to my students so that they can confidently learn how to solve problems even if at first they feel stuck, which is very normal when studying maths.
As well as this since I have recently completed my A levels I can provide guidance on general exam technique and revision tips for outside of my tutoring sessions.
