I have been a Primary teacher for 9 years and a personal tutor for 7. I have excellent subject knowledge of the primary frameworks and the 11+ examinations. I have worked on both the SEN and gifted and talented policies for my current school, so can teach to a wide spectrum of learning needs by using different techniques to help children learn.
I graduated from Warwick University, attaining outstanding in my KS1 and KS2 placements. I have since achieved outstanding in all my observations, including several OFSTED inspection. I have also helped many students gain outstanding SAT results. I have also helped students with their 11+ examinations, having a great success rate in helping student gain a place at their desired secondary school.
I have been a personal tutor for KS1, KS2 and 11+ students. I have been heavily involved in creating the tutor programmes and have run many sessions on study skills and am able to offer excellent advice on techniques students can use throughout their exams.
Last year the 3 children I tutored for entrance exams all passed. One of those pupils was placed 1st out of the 5,000 children who sat the exam. The other two was placed 17th and 23rd.
My main skills lie in creating motivational and engaging tutoring sessions, challenging pupils to extend their knowledge and application of subject areas.
I am a firm believer in the every child matters policy and understand that every child learns differently, so I adapt my sessions to the individual. In my initial meeting with the student I would assess their gaps in knowledge and assess what level they are currently working at. I would then put an individualised working plan together for that student so they had aims and targets and understand what they need to do to achieve. During each session I would use many different methods of teaching and varied tasks to ensure the students concentration level remain at a high level.
