I graduated with my PhD in philosophy from the University of Edinburgh in 2022. Currently, I am taking a break from academia, but teaching philosophy has been a passion of mine since I first began in 2015, so I have decided to offer tutoring services to students taking philosophy courses and those casually studying the discipline. My research and research interests tend toward the analytic tradition and include metaphysics, epistemology, and ancient philosophy, but I am well-equipped to tutor students in ethics and normative philosophy as well.

Tutoring Approach

There is no one size fits all approach to helping students, so I prefer to spend some time getting to know tutees during the first session. Finding out what a student studies, the requirements they are expected to fulfill, how they are expected to fulfill them, what they struggle with, and what they expect to get out of tutoring sessions all aid in constructing a tailored approach to tuition. At a general level, my passion for teaching philosophy drives me to find different ways to help students engage with the relevant material, which is one of the most effective ways to help students who are struggling. Philosophy is a difficult discipline to study, but having extra support can sometimes give a student the boost that enables them to excel in it. Examples of things that I can help with include comprehension, paper/essay planning, presentation preparation, and exam preparation. Given that all of my teaching experience is at university and college level, my approach is most suited to students in higher education and above. In-person sessions are preferable, but virtual sessions can be arranged.
