I am passionate about science and enjoy teaching all levels. I have a 1st class degree in chemistry and a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Manchester. I have five children of my own, which I believe gives added insight and maturity when working with young people of different ages and ability.
I have over 6 years teaching and tutoring experience. I always discuss the needs of my new pupils very carefully and aim to build their confidence in the subject. This enables students to reach their potential, maximizing grades.
For A-level Chemistry, I have excellent teaching resources. There is a detailed notebook covering every aspect of the specification, containing all the information needed for the exams. Along with the note booklets, you will receive a task booklet (& mark scheme) containing exercises specifically designed to help build confidence and knowledge before tackling exam questions. You will be given plenty of exam questions, each tailored to the specific topic. This helps to not only build on exam technique, but also consolidate knowledge. Recent feedback included, “Jane’s booklets were very straight forward and made the more difficult concepts easier to understand” and “Jane’s resources and booklets are fantastic and explain everything in detail, which makes it so much easier for revising.”
With respect to teaching A-level, it often requires practicing exercises together including plenty of discussion to ensure subject knowledge is strong. I find that practicing exam techniques invariably helps to rapidly improve grades. Recent feedback from a student, "Jane not only re-taught me topics, so that I could do the exam questions, but made sure I understood the information and why"
