Over ten years as Head of Social Sciences at Dame Alice Owen's School, voted in the Sunday Times (2021) as the state School of the decade & in 2025 as the best partially selective school in the UK. I love teaching and work tirelessly to meet the needs of those who I am fortunate to work with. I love the outdoors and cycle 100 miles a week for my commute to school. I was fortunate enough to spend two years cycling around the world, influencing me to be patient, resilient and with a keen appreciation of global issues. Tutoring Experience

I have over 15 years teaching experience, in addition to Industry experience and time working at the Treasury and Prime Minister's Office. I teach Business and Economics at GCSE and A Level and can tutor across all exam boards. I lead a very successful faculty, have worked as an examiner and have most recently implemented a whole school revision approach for exam classes, so am well placed to offer tuition to a high standard. I have completed an MA in Education. I spent 3 years in a challenging school setting before being invited to return to my current school where I originally trained. My roles have been varied including head of enterprise, head of year 12 & 13 and my current role as head of Social Sciences which I have now held for 10 years (Business, Economics & Sociology). I have recently completed a secondment with the Senior Leadership team focusing on effective revision strategies, which involved implementing a whole school initiative. I am also an examiner for A Level Business.

Tutoring Approach

I would take a flexible approach dependent on the needs of the student. I have a range of effective revision strategies which could be used in the session, along with a wealth of resources which I would be happy to share. I would make sure that the sessions are interesting, interactive and with a focus on any misconceptions the student may have. I would combine the need to develop solid subject knowledge along with a sound exam technique. I would mark work of tutees and offer constructive feedback. I have access to model answers to help improve exam technique where required.
