Online Maths and Physics Tutor

I'm an enthusiastic and experienced tutor and have a passion for science and engineering. I'm currently studying a Masters in Nuclear Physics and Engineering at the University of Bristol and will be pursuing a PhD afterwards to hopefully work designing nuclear fission and fusion reactors later in my career! In my spare time I enjoy training martial arts, climbing and playing the piano.

Tutoring Experience

I've got three years of online tutoring experience for A level and GCSE students with a variety of abilities so am sure we will get along. I also used to mentor and teach a GCSE pupil face to face, and have worked as a teaching assistant in a year 10 maths classroom. Most importantly, I have a younger sister, who completed her GCSEs last year - so I've seen and understood the stresses that you might be feeling! I also have a DBS check.

Tutoring Approach

Our lessons will be focused about what you need to understand to succeed, but can extend to wider exciting topics of physics and maths if that would be useful or interesting to you. Generally though we strip a topic back to its first principles (that is, what are the underlying principles, ideas, understanding, that will allow you to solve any kind of problem on the topic) and then slowly build up the complexity of problems we're solving. This means you'll learn to approach and tackle problems on your own, rather than just memorising a set of steps to solve a problem, without understanding what you're doing.
