I'm a nationally recognised Lead Practitioner of Mathematics and secondary school teacher, with over 13 years teaching experience! A specialist in working with pupils aspiring to achieve a pass at Grade 4 in their GCSE Mathematics.
Working with pupils from ages 11 to 19 for over 13 years, in the state and private sector, as well as tutoring both F2F and online, I specialise in working with pupils who are trying to achieve their Grade 4 in Mathematics as well as transition between Year 11 and Year 12.
I have a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics (Post-graduate degree) as well as a national accreditation as a Lead Practitioner in Mathematics - when it comes to what works for pupils when learning Mathematics, I'm an expert!
As a Lead Practitioner, my focus in the classroom for many years has been working with pupils who struggle to grasp the core concepts of the GCSE curriculum, and making it accessible for all. I have a knack for showing pupils that they can be successful, like everybody else, and we only need a little resilience and open-mindedness to succeed.
I work with all abilities of pupils, but if your child needs that extra motivation and confidence boost when it comes to striving for a pass in the GCSE Mathematics at Grade 4, then I can offer them the help they need.
By breaking content down into single, accessible chunks, pupils quickly learn to develop the confidence needed to tackle more demanding and problem solving based questions at GCSE level and beyond.
A focus on mastering the core Grades 3-5 topics at GCSE, alongside developing a fluency with the core number topics in the curriculum, is a highly successful approach I've used with thousands of students over the years.
Pupils must feel confident to make errors, to reflect, and 'have another go' - fostering this approach is key to me helping pupils become successful learners in Mathematics. Once that fear of making a mistake is gone, pupils can then flourish: my teaching approach allows students to feel proud of the progress they make and how independent they become as learners.
