James's Feedback

James is helping my Ukrainian guest make great progress for her imminent GCSEs. After every lesson she says that he is the best teacher she has ever had and that he is really helping to her to develop her skills and knowledge; she wishes he had been teaching her for longer. Thank you.

Before James was my tutor, I was getting reasonable grades, but they were inconsistent, my confidence was low and as a result I lost my enjoyment of English. Once he started teaching me with clear guidance and tips, my skills improved and my grades became consistently higher. This greatly increased my confidence and through that my enjoyment came back. I can't thank him enough and would recommend him to anyone looking to improve their skills, confidence or knowledge. (Student aged 12)

James uses a constructive and kind approach to tutoring. He focuses on building confidence, providing techniques for approaching the work and focuses as much on my son’s attitude to learning as he does to ability. This has been perfect for a child who finds English comprehension hard, but can achieve his potential with some 1:1 support.

James has been tutoring our 15 year old leading up to his English GCSE exams, as he has always lacked confidence in English and we felt the need for a boost. James has been a very inspiring and encouraging tutor, offering our son the opportunity to discuss all different aspects of the English curriculum, from set books to comprehension.
James is always punctual, very well prepared, engaging and makes English fun. He has set homework that has given our son lots of opportunities for practise and then the one to one feedback and discussion have been really valuable.
It has also been great to have a ‘cool’ younger man to engage with as all his previous English teachers have been women.
