Online English Tutor

I am 41 years old and live in Cambuslang, South Lanarskhire. I graduated from the University of Strathclyde, in 2005, with a BA Hons in English literature and went on to study the PGDE in Secondary Education at Jordanhill, Glasgow. I currently only offer sessions via Zoom (I have found this to be just as a
effective as in-person tuition). However, I do understand some people prefer an in-person experience.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching for 18 years and I have presented pupils for Higher and Advanced Higher English in many exam diets. I have been fully PVG checked and I am GTCS registered.

Tutoring Approach

As is the case within my classroom, my approach varies depending on the needs of the individual pupil(s) in front of me. I would initially discuss the pupil's needs with him/her, ascertaining strengths and weakenesses and I would then create a programme of work that would develop those areas in need of improvement. I would, weekly, assign homework and expect pupils to have it completed for the following week. The completion of these homework tasks is essential for the pupil to consolidate the knowledge learned both in class and during the tutoring session.
Note: If a pupil fails to attend tutoring sessions, repeatedly cancels the tutoring session then, unless payment is received for these missed sessions, I will be forced to end the tuition and reassign the slot to another tutee. (Obviously, occassional absences due to illness will happen - these aren't a problem)
