Online Maths and Economics Teacher

Hi all! I am new to FirstTutors (hence the lack of reviews!)

I am a recent graduate from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) with a bachelor's degree in Economics (achieved with First Class Honours).

Before this, at A Level, I scored 3 A*s and 1 A in Maths, Physics, Economics and Further Maths; at GCSE, I scored 10 A*s (9 9s, 1 8) and 1 A (highest possible grade) in Additional Maths.

Tutoring Experience

I have accrued 350+ hours teaching Maths and Economics around the Kensington and Chelsea area in London while at university, and am well-equipped to help maximise your son/daughter's grade potential.

Some of my achievements while tutoring include **:

  • Helping a student attain 96% in his 2nd year Macroeconomics final exam at Boston College
  • Helping a student attain an A* in A Level Maths to gain admission to Kings College London for Medicine
  • Helping a student attain an A* (9) in GCSE Economics
  • Helping another student attain an A in A Level Economics to gain admission to Boston College
  • Helping a student attain an A in A Level Economics to gain admission to Aston University for Medicine

** All students started with below A*/A grades

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is results-driven and grounded in the cognitive science behind how students really learn.

That means I will employ a whole suite of learning techniques from Socratic questioning, the Feynman technique, active recall, spaced repetition and more to ensure that learned subject knowledge is retained.

Above all, it is important to note that everything starts with reverse-engineering the exam; once the mechanics of the exam are understood, scoring highly is no more difficult than following a few well-practised steps.
