Jake

I am a full time, fully qualified, maths teacher, who holds a maths degree. I recently completed my PGCE, so can guarantee I am fluent in latest pedagogical research, and am actively engaged in continuously improving my teaching. I have 3 years of teaching experience, and have been working in education for 5 years.

The important thing with learning maths is practice, so a large portion of our sessions would be to spend time dedicated towards intentional, focused practice on skills specifically necessary to improve outcomes, personalised and tailored directly for the students needs.
As maths is hierarchical, it is crucially important to ensure pupils have a solid understanding of the required fundamentals in any given topic, during lesson teachers often don't have the available time to cover every pre-requisite, so it's very possible some topics would be inaccessible before even starting. Having a tutor who can identify where the problem lies, and what the pupil actually needs to learn, is the difference between developing an understanding of the maths, and being able complete simple examples through rote practice.

I am currently teaching the AQA specification for GCSE and Edexcel for A-level, though I have previously taught Edexcel at GCSE, but all exam boards in maths are remarkably similar, as the content is near-identical.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring part time for six years, with one of those years working as a dedicated full time tutor in school. I have been in education for five of those years, and working as a full time teacher for three.
