I am a person focussed tutor of Psychology and English literature. I am currently studying my masters in Literature and Culture and self studying Japanese.
I have always been passionate about both teaching and learning, and am hoping to share that passion in my work. I know that the school system can be very challenging and extra support can be extremely important, especially leading up to exams and coursework deadlines. I aim to not only help people learn, but also help them enjoy the process of learning in general. I am here for both students who are passionate to stay at a high level, but also for those who may find particular subjects challenging and are struggling with learning or school life. No matter the situation you're in, I would love to help you learn and improve.
During my A levels and degree I did some tutoring for family and local children. Ontop of that I have also assisted with teaching night classes to adults, school admin, and volunteered at holiday clubs for children. Part of this volunteering included creating a lesson plan around the message of the day and delivering activities and work based around it. I also used to teach new volunteers before they joined.
I have experience working with children with ADHD and AuDHD both in my personal life, tutoring/homework help, and also while volunteering at the children's holiday camp. Due to my many years volunteering with children and teenagers I am fully DBS checked, safeguarding trained, and have experience working with a wide variety of age groups and backgrounds.
I am patient, flexible, and person focussed in my approach. Our first session will be used to gauge the areas that require the most attention and I will make a personal plan to work on. Together we will find what teaching style works best for you/the student in order to make sure the sessions are as effective as possible. If you have a certain exam goals we will look at your past tests, example answers, and mark schemes to learn how to not only have better knowledge, but how to meet marking criteria.
I am also happy to go through coursework with you/the student in sessions if you have a deadline and help with essay plans.
