I am a student studying at Lancaster University and loving my time here. My choice to study a BSc Economics was driven by my fascination towards numerical analysis and real world problem solving. My favourite aspect of education has always been the classroom environment; learning with my peers and sharing what I learn is where I excel and is a passion of mine. This is why I instantly responded positively when my economics teacher suggested I tutor whilst at university, because of my clear enthusiasm for all three of my A Levels: Maths, Geography & Economics.

Tutoring Experience

While I do not have any teaching experience, I have always taken the time to support my peers in the classroom because teaching someone what you have learnt is the best way to consolidate what you have learnt. In college I eagerly put myself forward to run the Economics club. Every week I would prepare a powerpoint presentation, using this I and my peers would discuss exam techniques, course content and practice answering questions together. It was an experience I enjoyed immensely and we all seemed to benefit from. I have also currently gained experience revising year 7 mathematics with my Sister.

Tutoring Approach

When revising independently, in a group or with my sister, I have always found attempting exam style questions to be the most effective way of developing and securing what I have been taught in the classroom. My sessions will focus around questions in a relaxed, encouraging environment where I will be open to new ideas and approaches. My tutees can master exam technique, concentrate on areas of their course they struggle the most and teach content back to me to secure their knowledge.
