Home Tuition for Maths in Sheffield

Hi! My name's Jack! I'm 25 years old and I work full time as a one-to-one tutor in a secondary school.

When I was studying for my GCSEs, I hated maths. I had no idea what I was doing, I didn't know how to problem solve and nothing seemed intuitive. However, with the support of some excellent teachers, I transformed from somebody who hated maths, to somebody who's passionate about it.

Now, I love teaching maths and nothing gives me more satisfaction than witnessing the "eureka" moments my students have when they understand a new problem for the first time. I love getting to know my students, finding out what they're passionate about and what they want to do with their lives. It's a great pleasure using my knowledge of maths to help my students unlock their potential and achieve their goals in life.

Tutoring Experience

I work as a full time maths tutor in a secondary school, so it's safe to say I know my stuff!

I have an A* maths GCSE (which I completed a year early) and A*s in A Level Maths and Further Maths. I also hold a first class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering.

I also hold a full enhanced DBS certificate.

Tutoring Approach

Not only do I make it my mission to equip you with the skills you need to do your very best in your exams, but I am passionate about working with you to bring out the resilience you need to excel in whatever career path you choose.

I believe in a first-principles approach. Memorising formulae and rules is all very well and good, but it doesn't enable a true understanding of different mathematical methods. I will not only teach you the "how" behind solving problems, but the "why" too.

GCSE papers are becoming more complex and varied year on year, developing a true understanding of the methods behind problem solving is the best way to prepare for any question that comes your way.
