Hello! I'm Ibrahim, I've completed a PhD in Mathematics at the University of Leeds and I did a bachelors in Maths and Philosophy at the University of Warwick. I've taught and marked undergraduate classes during my PhD and I'm very familiar with the syllabuses of A-level/GCSE Mathematics and Philosophy.
I've given tutorial classes and marked for first and second-year mathematics modules at the University of Leeds.
I'll emphasize understanding the underlying ideas and proofs behind the topics rather than simply repeating formulaic explanations to students.
During undergraduate mathematics it was emphasized to us that we should understand ideas rather than simply memorise them, since once we understand something, remembering it becomes easy!
I believe students of all levels can benefit from this approach, and I'll implement this method as much as possible during teaching. For example, rather than simply memorising the formula for the sum of the first n numbers, if a student knew how to derive it, by pairing the first and last numbers, second and second last numbers, and so on, they could produce the formula themselves.
