I am a university student currently on a gap year. I have an offer to study Engineering at Kings College London. I am an academically orientated person, having achieved 3A*s at A-Level and 8A*s and 2As at GCSE. I enjoy helping people and giving back to my community, often taking part in mentorship schemes run by my school to help lower year groups integrate into secondary school life.
Aside from this, I am a sporty individual, playing cricket at a district level while also playing basketball and swimming, having performed the latter at club level.
I have worked as a tutor for 1.5 years for KUMON. Having done group tuition and private tuition, I am equipped with the skill set to teach effectively and under pressure. I have grown confident at communicating with students and parents, always aiming to create a comfortable environment for my students to learn.
I am a patient teacher, taking my time to convey a lesson. I go through the content comprehensively, missing out no gaps and drawing on synoptic links throughout the rest of the course, to provide a bigger picture. For difficult topics, I make sure to build a foundation for the student to understand it, and I try to relate the topics back to the student as much as possible. I typically use resources like the textbook and practice questions, to develop a firm understanding of content and to nurture advanced exam technique, while occasionally providing wider reading, outside the specification in order to provide a bigger picture of a topic (applications, limitations of certain concepts, etc…)
