English Lessons in Towcester

I am an enthusiastic and positive person who has a great deal of patience and a desire to help others succeed. I help with a number of activities in the local community. I run my own successful business and would like to help people get to grips with the English language. As a qualified scuba diving instructor I teach adults to overcome significant challenges and to help them become safe and competent divers. I am a fan of rugby, having played and refereed as well as coached and now mostly cheer on Northampton Saints! I was fortunate to be selected as a Rugby World Cup volunteer looking after VIPs attending the matches including Prince Harry amongst others.
As well as travel I enjoy the outdoors and watching the natural world.
I have been involved in films and TV series as an extra and in the past on local news and radio in relation to my work or on education matters.

Tutoring Experience

I was involved in education for over 25 years. 18 of those as a Headteacher. I have a very wide range of teaching experience from one to one tutoring to speaking to an audience of thousands
I have worked with all ages of students from 5 to adult. I was senior marker for Science Key Stage exams, one of only four in the country and lead a team of over 2000 markers.
I was my county representative on a number of national and international committees. I also served twice as president of the South West National Headteachers Association.
I was awarded a Fellowship to the Royal Society of Arts and Sciences because of my work in assessment and education

Tutoring Approach

I believe the most important aspect of all teaching is to understand what are the individuals goals and how I can help achieve them. It is vital to review progress and move forward at the speed and ability of the individual but at the same time to challenge them to overcome obstacles.
The ability to communicate in our society is so important and I know that I am able to give people confidence to develop their language skills and to use these skills in new and challenging situations.
