HUSNARA

I am a retired teacher with over 40 years of experience in teaching Mathematics. Throughout my career, I have been deeply committed to making Mathematics both accessible and engaging for students, helping them build confidence and achieve their academic goals.

My journey into education began with an initial interest in Chemical Engineering, but due to personal circumstances, I was unable to complete my engineering degree, despite being in my final year of studies. I returned to academia and earned a Mathematics degree from Karachi University in 1989. I later completed a second degree in Mathematics through the Open University in the UK, and in 2009, I earned my Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Greenwich University, London.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy creative hobbies like knitting, beadwork, and gardening, and I love spending time with my kids and grandkids. I also enjoy walking.

Tutoring Experience

I taught in secondary schools in London for 25 years, focusing on Mathematics education up to A-Level. I retired during the COVID-19 pandemic, but my passion for teaching remains strong, and I continue to tutor students, both online and in person.

I began my teaching career in Karachi, Pakistan, where I taught Mathematics in secondary schools for 10 years. I also taught O-Levels and A-Levels, following the Cambridge (UCLES) syllabus.

Tutoring Approach

From my experience, I have learned that Mathematics is often viewed as a challenging or unappealing subject. That’s why I approach teaching with empathy and understanding, recognizing that not all students share my passion for the subject. I am committed to making lessons engaging and accessible, tailoring my approach to each student’s unique needs.

I use a variety of teaching methods, resources, and visual aids to simplify complex concepts and make learning enjoyable. This includes online tools, interactive software, and hands-on materials. I believe that with patience, passion, and the right support, every student can succeed in Mathematics—there is no reason why anyone cannot excel in the subject when it's taught in an encouraging and supportive environment.
