I am an English teacher currently working at a secondary school in the West Midlands. I have been teaching English for over ten years and qualified at the University of Birmingham.
I am an enthusiastic teacher and I see tutoring as an opportunity to help those who are struggling with the subject.
I have been teaching in Secondary Schools for over ten years, where I have taught English Language and Literature to KS3, 4 and 5. During this time, I have experienced teaching a number of exam specfications.
I am passionate about teaching so I ensure that pupils are engaged with their learning. I take time to understand pupils and their individual learning needs. I am confident teaching a range of abilities, pushing those trying to reach an 8/9 grade and also pushing those on the borderline 4/5/6 grades.
Before each session, I ensure that I am equipped with knowledge about the tutee's English exam board and evaluate the pupil's weaknesses and strengths within the subject. This will enable me to determine a structure and plan of how the tutee will progress in our sessions.
I use past papers and essay questions for further sessions. This is how I personalise learning and it is the best way for me to understand the tutee and to enable them to progress.
I also offer revision guides and resources for pupils so that they can work through the skills learnt during our tutoring sessions. I am also able to receive emails of pupils' work etc to read through and offer guidance/support.
