As an experienced teacher of English as a Foreign Language and ESOL in college and community venues, in recent years I have begun to work with Year 10s and 11s, helping them prepare for GCSE English Language.
I like to think that I am friendly and reassuring to tutees, keen to draw out their ideas and develop them as individuals, as well as helping them to improve their English.
I teach online or face-to-face at my home.

Tutoring Experience

I used to teach in an F.E. college and community venues, but now teach privately - adults, teenagers and children from the age of 14.
I worked with a few young people in Year 11 last year, who were finding their GCSE studies hard-going. We were hopeful that they would achieve the best possible grades for themselves as individuals, recognising that it is not a competition, but each one has their own potential to reach.
My current adult students include people who have moved to this country and are trying hard to improve their English and acquire cultural knowledge to enable them to better integrate into society and make better employees in their workplaces. As well as my existing students, I have helped many others in recent years, on a private and home-stay basis, to improve their English for IELTS and other exams, as well as for General and Business purposes.
By negotiation, I can also teach in-company courses if required and I find this equally rewarding.

Tutoring Approach

I am adaptable and used to finding ways to 'help the penny drop' as well as stimulating interest and bringing out the best in tired teenagers at the end of their school day.

In workplaces, if teaching Business English courses, I use whatever resources are available to me, but above all, the student's own experience and knowledge.
