Hello parents and students,

I'm Hayley, I have a degree in Biochemistry and am an experienced online tutor and teacher and currently Deputy Head of Science at my current school.

With extensive experience teaching across many exam boards I have an excellent understanding of what you need to do to achieve a particular grade, I have experience in teaching across a range of abilities and tailor the sessions to the need of my students.

I thoroughly enjoy tutoring and am really proud of my A Level students last year who Achieved A* or A and have gone onto study Science degrees at top Universities.

Tutoring Experience

With 5 years of tutoring experience I have tutored students from various schools in London and top schools across the country such as Cheltenham ladies college.

As a current classroom teacher, I have extensive knowledge of the EDEXCEL, AQA and OCR Specifications, A-Level and GCSE level, including IGCSE. In my role as a Science Teacher, I also cover the Core Practical skills with all A-Level Chemistry students. I am also an Examiner for the AQA Examining Board.

Tutoring Approach

I am a friendly and approachable tutor and recognise the importance of building relationships with students where they feel safe to make mistakes and build from these. I see myself as more of a facilitator of learning than a lecturer and know when to give input and when to allow students to find the solutions for themselves.

During the first session with new students I spend time identifying the strengths and areas of weaknesses of my students. i start each session by consolidating key knowledge/skill concepts then allow the student to apply this through exam questions. Over the years i have developed and acquired a wealth of resources including model answers, condensed notes and cheat sheets which are developed according to examiner reports.
This makes lessons dynamic and interactive, which is important, especially when teaching online.
