I am an experienced, fully qualified teacher of Classics with a genuine passion for the subject. I studied Classics at University College, Oxford and, after a brief foray into a career in finance, I undertook the PGCE at Buckingham University and obtained my Qualified Teacher Status whilst working full time in a top London day school. For the past 11 years, I have been teaching students aged 11-18, as well as tutoring privately for 11+, GCSE and A Level, before recently relocating with my family to Stroud, Gloucestershire.
I am passionate about Latin and Greek literature, particularly epic poetry, tragedy, philosophy and love poetry. I gain great satisfaction from teaching and pushing my students to achieve their own unique potential.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 11 years teaching experience at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including teaching the OCR syllabus at GCSE and A Level in Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation.
I have experience of teaching the Cambridge Latin Course books, De Romanis, John Taylor's Latin to GCSE, Greek to GCSE, Latin Beyond GCSE and Greek Beyond GCSE, as well as Unseens and Prose Composition at A Level in Latin and Greek.
I have taught Prose and Verse Literature at GCSE and A Level.
I am DBS checked and Level 3 Safeguarding trained.

Tutoring Approach

I am kind, patient, enthusiastic and approachable whilst being focussed on getting best possible results for each individual. I try to make learning fun - because it is! - and I have a good sense of humour, whilst knowing well that a good understanding of classical subjects requires discipline and rigour. My lessons are tailored to the requirements of each student to ensure that they are engaged and can learn to the best of their ability whilst growing in confidence. I have lots of experience of students with neurodiversity and specific learning requirements and am flexible in my approach.
