Hello,
I have been teaching Religion, Philosophy and Ethics as well as being a Head of Department for over 10 years now. During this time I have also been a Head of Year and an Examiner.
I pride myself on being professional and supportive. I enjoy guiding students to be engaged, to develop their thinking, communication and understanding as well as their essay writing skills which is essential for success in a subject of this nature as well as many other subjects.
I have taught students at GCSE who have gone on to study A Level and those at A Level who have gone on to degree level highlighting my successes as their teacher. I currently teach the AQA specification at GCSE, Edexcel at A level and have a wealth of experience with the OCR syllabus up to and including A Level.

Tutoring Approach

My approach is adaptable depending on the individual student and their needs. Whilst I am prepared to tutor online I do feel it's more beneficial to students to have in person tutoring.
It is important for me to assess their basic understanding of the key concepts of a unit and then build upon and enhance their knowledge in order to strengthen their response as well as tackling any common misconceptions.
I'm also a firm believer in students fully being able to comprehend the demands of a question, what is actually needed for a successful answer as well as analysing the marking criteria- by doing so they are more likely to improve their grades more rapidly.
Of course repeat practise will always help boost grades.
